The first time I encountered conducting a study, I was in tenth grade. It gave me an impression of “Wow! This is what adults do.” It taught me to take a bigger leap of understanding, patience, and a whole new level of analyzing and writing subjects I would not even know I was capable of. Senior High School had an impact on our writing skills, we became conversant with the different concepts of research papers, wherein we were able to grasp how to write the paper- to the extent we went through a spoon-feeding just to understand it in every detail. 


I joined DLSU’s First Research Convergence for SHS, as a student and gamer we conducted a study about gaming dependency and interpersonal skills of a person, at this point, it was very close to our heart. During the process the data that we have gathered was overwhelming, and we were keen upon discovery. Selecting an interesting subject pushes you over the edge, the motivation, enthusiasm, and determination are evident until the presentation and defense of the topic. 


Research answers an observable phenomenon, self-learning is acquired through the process and the awareness that must be shared. The government facilities support studies especially DOST who grants students not only incentives but also maximum funding. Since only a few people engaged in publishing the studies into journals, only the few who acquired the knowledge, became a reason for them to conduct research conferences. 


As you delve deeper into a particular subject, be attentive to check angles that have not been discussed in the world, a study must not be kept on the bookshelf or breached four corners of the room, but also publishing it as a journal, as an aiding solution to societal problems, either national or international concern. 


A degree paper is essential, as a college student this is a final requirement before graduating. This is a form of the foundation of the idea on how to complete a dissertation paper when a student wants to pursue a Master’s Degree.


TUA Faculty Cecille Ycong discussed that for students of the Communication and Broadcasting Department, Production Research is considered to be one. This is an idea which entices us to present in the future and it was mentioned that short films produced and used for the research could be an entry for competitions and other students proved this as they won. As an aspiring student from Broadcasting, It would be my pleasure to investigate advertisements and films to advance the potential of media.

Sociocultural Tradition - Symbolic Interactionism Starbucks coffee shops here in the Philippines show as a status symbol—“elite” not only in its price and ambiance but the branding itself while in outside countries it is just an ordinary brewing coffeehouse.
