Heneral Luna - Production Set
Heneral Luna’s production is bigger than what we have seen the screen. There were so much work that have done in the making. Every producer’s dream is to produce a historical movie. Each procedure was made earlier, the research, the visiting sites, the clothing fabrics, the setting, and sketches, were made to advance the movie. Prepared double than the usual. It has to be historically accurate and put in the creative license, it has been years since the viewing of the film in cinemas. In that time, there’s nothing much historical places were preserved. Some scenes were staged but as a viewer, you would not notice it because of amusement and fascination. As per the old photos for the guide of positioning of the characters, and the envisioning of the location was made into consideration. There is a part of the scene, taken in the side of the pool but staged as a field with trenches, their creativity and resourcefulness were brought to a higher level than what they normally do. Location Setting, as much as possible, being accurate where the historical events happened, visiting the Heneral Luna’s old house, museums, and libraries, and additional props have to comply with the movie’s timeline. How the sketching of the location was envisioned, is how it was created, was completely accurate, and made to touch the reality as the viewer and movie character lives in the film and the same time. Flashback sequence, floating memory - similar to a dream, the vignette effect was adjusted to create boundaries and orange-y color grading for the time setting and mood, and the lenses were made cloudy. The location and setting stage was not made by computer graphics as most people think. It was made live. The effort in the making behind the flashback scene is beautifully produced. The clothing, the fabric designs, the buttons, and the fit, were all carefully thought about, as well the changes of their costumes, the torn-out parts, the blood, and dirt were applied. Most clothing and props were manufactured–custom made, which it cannot be found or bought as ready-made. For a historical movie produced, it takes collaboration with creative team and planned in an effective way. Since it is a producer's dream, it took so much effort, time, hardworking to make it a reality.
